Some of the core skills we would like our new consultants to come with include;
- Excellent organisational skills and time management
- Possession of postgraduate qualifications in epidemiology. This may be a Master’s or PhD degree, or membership by examination of an appropriate professional body (e.g., European College of Veterinary Public Health).
- Demonstrated experience and competency in epidemiology
- Excellent command of spoken and written English. EpiMundi works mostly in English. At least CEFR-level B2 for speaking, and higher for technical writing.
- Experience in authoring scientific publications
- Proficiency with standard office systems (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), email, and teleconferencing (Slack, Meet, Teams)
- Demonstrated ability to rapidly gain competency with new software systems
- Well developed skills in statistical software packages (ideally R statistical environment)
- Experience working autonomously and as part of a small team.
- Experience managing competing priorities within specific timeframes, adaptability, flexibility,
- Willingness to accept changing priorities
- Willingness to occasionally work additional reasonable hours when necessary (e.g., when travelling or when a project deadline requires it).
- Excellent communication, and network and relationship-building skills
- Excellent organisational skills and time management


We also look for
- Epidemiological modelling and quantitative analysis using R
- Management and integration of multiple complex health data sources using R and SQL
- Analysis, visualisation and interpretation of animal health data including (but not restricted to) antimicrobial resistance data
- Antimicrobial usage and resistance surveillance experience
- Development of decision support tools
- Disease surveillance (early detection surveillance approaches, demonstration of freedom)
- Risk analysis experience
- Epidemiological study design capabilities
- Geographical Information Systems expertise
Most experienced candidates will be expected to already have, or possess the demonstrated ability to develop, a sound knowledge of or competencies in some or all of the following;
- Skills in GIS and spatial analysis (QGIS, PostGIS)
- Skills in effective data management (R, PostSQL)
- Competency in SQL (PostgreSQL)
- Code versioning (GIT/Bitbucket)
- Python for both data analysis and software development
- Cloud computing environments (AWS)
- Windows or MacOS, and Linux (Ubuntu)
- Other software development tools including HTML, CSS, Javascript, PHP etc.
